Hominy Drink
(This recipe takes a lot of time, like most Native food it may be an acquired taste)
½ cup Pearl Hominy
½ cup pecans
1 teaspoon salt
6 cups water
1 teaspoon flavoring if desired (cinnamon, almond, vanilla, etc)
In a coffee grinder, grind hominy very fine.
Boil 3 cups of water, and add a pinch of salt
Pour hominy and water into bowl with pecans and stir well for five
minutes.
Drop in a teaspoon of desired flavoring if you like.
Place in fridge overnight
Pour mixture in blender with remaining 3 cups of water.
Strain through double layers of cheesecloth
Whisk in sugar, you may also add food coloring if desired.
Chill well before serving. I suggest serving with pork or
Something fried.
